Starting to set up the plugin:You will find three individual settings areas in the plugin's setup page, which are described in detail below.
At Tags Properties setting panel, you can find different options that effects the property of a tag cloud on the frontend
This checkbox decides whether to display the tag clouds or not.
This option holds a short caption for the tag clouds, as a topic. The input entered here will be displayed at top of the tagcloud.
Multiple font family styles are available for the text styling your tags term. If this option is remained unset then the default font family style of the template will be taken.
It is a color picker that gives color to the text of the tag terms. Also, it can be left unset for the default color of text given by template available.
This option makes the tags look more dynamic and unique by changing the default background color of tag's body. Numbers of color option are available to play with before displaying tags cloud.
This option holds the layout and design for the tag cloud that is to be displayed in the frontend. A total of 36 templates is available. All the templates are different in designs and features. This plugin extends its features by giving an option of displaying images instead of word terms.
This option deals with text transform feature. No matter what was the letter case of tags that were added with posts , this option helps to give them uniform style. Capitalize, lowercase and uppercase are the available options.
With this feature the font style can be changed easily to normal, italics along oblique type.
This options helps the text content to align in a chosen way inside the tags body. On a tag’s body, text can be right align, left align or center align at a time for the whole tagcloud.
With the help of this option text weight can be set to bold for all tag terms of the tagcloud. If this option is set to normal then the default design will be loaded at frontend.
This setup panel deals with ten paramters that helps in generating a tagcloud . Each and every options are simple to set for generating tagcloud.
Here is description on configuring the parameters
This option takes an integer value for minimum size of the text for a tag term. If maximum text size is not set then the size of the text for tag terms with different count will be same as of it. The default text size of the tag term is 8.
This field takes an integer value for maximum size of the text for a tag term. The term with the highest count will take this value and is displayed in the tag cloud. Changing the text sizes bring alteration on the tag cloud at the frontend.
This field takes an input as 'pt', 'px', 'em' or '%' for the font size of the smallest and the largest tag term. Each above option makes difference in the font sizes in a different way so user should choose it according to the requirement.
Here a total number of tag terms to be dispalyed in the tag cloud should be given as an input. For displaying whole available terms user should give 0 as the value.
With this option the tagcloud can be formatted into the flat layout or a list layout. Generally flat layout is used but can be set to list one if the tagcloud is to be displayed at the sidebar widgets area as requirement.
This field takes any characters as an input and are diplayed as tag term seperator. Normally a comma "," is used to seperate tag terms but any characters (a-z,0-9,!,@,#,$,%,^,&,*,(,),_,+,{,},|,",?,>,<,",) are valid. Not assigning any seperator still works fine as a whitespace or blank is displayed as default.
This option helps to order the tag terms in according to name or count. Set this option as per your requirement.
With this option the order of the tag terms displayed can be changed as ascending , descending or random order of name or count.
This field has an option of choosing the tag link to edit or set it for just viewing. View should be set normally.
Here with this feature the count of tag terms can be set to be diplayed or hidden. If show count is checked this gives viewer a quick information about the popularity of a tag term in tagcloud. So if it is required to display information about popular term this field should be checked otherwise leave unchecked.
This area of plugin setup has options for selecting the taxonomy type along including or excluding taxonomy terms before generating the tag cloud. Users donot require to know taxonomy term ids to include or exclude term. This section helps in filtering out unrequired taxonomy terms in a very simple way just by checking or unchecking the checkboxes. The available options in this section are described below.
This field has options regarding the type of taxonomy for which to generate the tag cloud. This plugin not only supports two WordPress inbuilt taxonomies category and post_tag but also supports custom registered taxonomy type whether by a theme or by any other plugin.
As a taxonomy type is selected in the above option, the respective taxonomy terms are enlisted with checkbox before the terms. Check the boxes for the terms according to requirement of including or excluding them.
Now this setup area has options to include all the available taxonomy terms or to exclude all checked or include the checked ones only into the tagcloud. Choose this option as requirement.
This plugin is very easy to setup using shortcodes. For each settings published under the Eight Degree Easy Tags Pro plugin ,a new shortcode is generated and listed in the EDET Shortcodes metabox at right side of the plugin's setup page. Such generated shortcode, [edet_p tag_id="767"] can be used by coping and placing it into the posts and pages. Thus the tagcloud will be displayed at the place where shortcode is placed.
Also, copy this code <?php echo do_shortcode("[edet_p tag_id='676']"); ?> and use it into the template file for displaying the tagcloud according to requirement.
Note:Please don't copy paste the above shortcode directly to page or post's visual editor.Instead please type or copy paste to html version editor.
